This house and guesthouse sit on a 2 acre L-Shaped lot. The site averages between 60% and 80% slope and has a 270 view overlooking LA.
The project consists of a house and a guesthouse. Access to the house is via a 550 ft. driveway .The design minimizes site disturbance while maximizing views and outdoor areas on land that offers absolutely no flat area for outdoor use.
The house consists of three levels. A four car garage is located on the first level and berooms are on the second. Living areas with the best views are located on the third level. The area between the house and guesthouse is backfilled to provide for access from the living areas to the rooftop above as well as the guesthouse on the fouth level
The building’s massings and volume are dictated by the necessity to negotiate between a severe topography, stringent zoning restrictions, balancing grading quantities and fire access requirements.
